Editorial Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Water Filter Lab publishes practical explanations for household water filtration. This policy describes how we research, review, update, and correct our content.

Research standards

We prefer primary and authoritative sources, including certification databases, standards organizations, public-health agencies, water utilities, manufacturers’ technical documents, and peer-reviewed research when relevant. Important safety, contaminant, and certification claims should be traceable to a current source.

Certification language

We distinguish between a technology that may reduce a substance and a specific product certified for a stated reduction. References to NSF/ANSI, WQA, or another program must not imply certification without verification for the exact model and claim.

Testing claims

We do not describe a product as tested by Water Filter Lab unless we actually performed and documented the stated test. Research-based comparisons are labeled and written as research, not disguised as hands-on experience or laboratory validation.

AI assistance and human responsibility

Automated tools may assist with drafting, structure, formatting, or quality checks. A human remains responsible for the publication standard, including source selection, claim review, clarity, internal consistency, and corrections. AI output is not treated as a source.

Affiliate independence

Affiliate availability does not decide what we publish or how a technology is described. Commercial links are disclosed, and we aim to explain meaningful limitations and maintenance costs as clearly as potential benefits.

Updates and corrections

Pages may be updated when standards, products, public guidance, or evidence change. Material corrections should be made promptly. Readers can report a possible error to contact@waterfilterlab.com with the page URL and supporting source.

Editorial scope

Our goal is to answer the reader’s practical question early, avoid filler, separate evidence from inference, and state when testing or professional advice is needed.
